1975-1981

The birth of folding bikes

In 1972, Dr. Hon joined Hughes Aircraft Company, a leading aerospacefirm, marking a career high. Yet, he doubted the feasibility of lasernuclear fusion as a clean energy source. Following the 1975 oil crisis, he sought alternatives to petroleum energy, and envisioned a betterurban transport mode. Memories of disassembling bicycles forportability in university inspired this pursuit.

1982

DAHON officially makes its debut

In 1982, DAHON was officially established in California, USA.The same year, Dr. Hon established the first DAHON factory inTaiwan and introduced folding bicycle products to the world,marking the beginning of the DAHON brand's journey.

1985

DAHON leads a new wave

DAHON folding bicycles garnered widespread acclaim in the market,and various media outlets eagerly covered this groundbreaking andinnovative product.That same year, DAHON's bicycle sales surpassed 10,000 units.

1993

Won the Taiwanese TAITRA/CETRA Outstanding Product Award

Owing to their innovative design and exceptional product quality,
DAHON's products were granted the Taiwanese TAITRA/CETRA
Outstanding Product Award in 1993.

2000

World’s largest producer of folding bicycles

With its innovative spirit and leading position in the field of folding bicycles, DAHON was honored by
Guinness World Records in the year 2000 as the "World's Largest Producer of Folding Bicycles."

2002

Taiwan Symbol of Excellence

AwardLaunch of World No. 1 Classic DAHON P8 is launched as an instant hit,achieving No. 1 sales worldwide.

2014

New Manufacturing Plant, Breakthrough with Global Partner

In 2014, to enhance its production capacity, DAHON relocated itsprimary manufacturing facilities and offices to the Bao'an District of Shenzhen, China.That same year, DAHON collaborated with Ford to develop a seriesof Ford bicycles for global sale, and established DAHON TW LLP.

2019

Debuted Sharing 360 Program

Licensed DAHON brand to two offshore distributors in Japan, which signified the commencement of our Sharing 360 Program to promote dual-brand products with international industry peers.

2023-Now

Unveiled DAHON-V technology suite, going beyond folding bikes
